Image Processing

Image processing is the application of mathematical algorithms and techniques to manipulate digital images for the purpose of improving their quality or extracting useful information. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, image processing is used to enhance images captured by spacecraft or telescopes, to extract information about the surface or atmosphere of planets or other celestial bodies, and to aid in navigation and guidance of spacecraft. Image processing techniques include image enhancement, restoration, segmentation, feature extraction, and pattern recognition.
