Hybrid Engines

Hybrid engines are propulsion systems that combine two or more power sources to generate thrust. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, hybrid engines typically refer to rocket engines that use both liquid and solid propellants. The liquid propellant provides a high specific impulse, which means it can generate a high amount of thrust per unit of propellant, while the solid propellant provides a high thrust-to-weight ratio, which means it can generate a high amount of thrust relative to its own weight. By combining these two types of propellants, hybrid engines can achieve a balance between high thrust and high efficiency, making them suitable for a wide range of space missions.
