Holographic Storage

Holographic storage is a data storage technique that uses holography to store information in three dimensions. In this technique, a laser beam is split into two beams, a reference beam and a signal beam. The signal beam is modulated with the data to be stored and then directed onto a holographic storage medium, where it interferes with the reference beam to create a hologram. The hologram contains the entire data page in three dimensions, and multiple holograms can be stored in the same volume of the storage medium. To retrieve the data, the reference beam is directed onto the holographic storage medium, which reconstructs the original signal beam and the stored data. Holographic storage has the potential to store terabytes of data in a single volume, with fast read and write times.
