Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis

Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis is a chemical process that converts a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen into liquid hydrocarbons. This process is commonly used in the production of synthetic fuels from coal, natural gas, or biomass. The process involves the use of a catalyst, typically iron or cobalt, to facilitate the reaction. The resulting hydrocarbons can be further processed into a variety of fuels, including diesel and jet fuel. Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis is an important technology for space and astronautical engineering as it can be used to produce fuel for spacecraft and other vehicles that operate in space.
