DIS


DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation) is a standard for real-time simulation communication between multiple entities such as simulators, virtual environments, and command and control systems. It provides a common language and protocol for exchanging data and events in a distributed simulation environment. DIS is widely used in military training and mission rehearsal applications, as well as in research and development of new simulation technologies. The standard defines the format and content of messages exchanged between simulation entities, including information about entity state, environmental conditions, and events. It also specifies the rules for network communication, synchronization, and coordination of simulation activities.
