Clean Room
Clean Room is a controlled environment with a low level of pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles, and chemical vapors. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, Clean Rooms are used for the assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft, satellites, and their components. The main purpose of a Clean Room is to prevent contamination of the spacecraft and its instruments, which can affect their performance and longevity. Clean Rooms are designed to maintain a positive pressure, which prevents the entry of outside air and contaminants. The personnel working in Clean Rooms wear special clothing, such as gowns, gloves, and masks, to minimize the release of particles and microbes. The air inside the Clean Room is filtered and recirculated through High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, which remove particles as small as 0.3 microns. Clean Rooms are classified according to the number of particles per cubic meter of air, and the cleanliness level required depends on the sensitivity of the spacecraft and its instruments.
