Beamsteering
In the context of aerospace engineering, Beamsteering is a technique used in phased array antennas to change the direction of the antenna's radiation pattern without physically moving the antenna. This is achieved by adjusting the phase of the signal at each individual antenna element in the array. The constructive and destructive interference of these signals results in a beam of radio waves that can be 'steered' in a particular direction. Beamsteering is a critical technology in radar systems, satellite communications, and modern wireless communication systems such as 5G. It allows for rapid scanning of large areas, tracking of multiple targets simultaneously, and can improve signal quality and data rates. In aerospace applications, beamsteering can be used to maintain communication links with fast-moving aircraft or spacecraft, or to track multiple objects in space simultaneously.
