Air Revitalization Systems
Air Revitalization Systems are the systems that provide breathable air to astronauts in a spacecraft or space station. These systems remove carbon dioxide, water vapor, and other contaminants from the air and replenish it with oxygen. The air revitalization system consists of several components, including a carbon dioxide removal system, a trace contaminant control system, and an oxygen generation system. The carbon dioxide removal system removes carbon dioxide from the air and releases it into space. The trace contaminant control system removes other contaminants such as ammonia, formaldehyde, and other volatile organic compounds. The oxygen generation system produces oxygen by electrolyzing water or by using a solid oxide electrolysis cell. The air revitalization system is essential for the survival of astronauts in space, as it provides them with a continuous supply of breathable air.
