Active Cooling


Active cooling is a method of cooling spacecraft components and systems using a cooling fluid, such as water or ammonia, that is circulated through the system by a pump. The fluid absorbs heat from the components and is then cooled by a radiator before being circulated back through the system. Active cooling is necessary for components that generate a lot of heat, such as power systems and electronics, to prevent them from overheating and malfunctioning. It is also used to maintain a stable temperature range for sensitive instruments, such as telescopes and spectrometers, to ensure accurate readings. Active cooling systems can be complex and require careful design to ensure efficient and reliable operation in the harsh environment of space.
