Valve Types


In space and astronautical engineering, valves are devices used to control the flow of fluids or gases. There are several types of valves used in space systems, including ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, and butterfly valves. Ball valves are commonly used in spacecraft propulsion systems because they provide a tight seal and can handle high pressure and temperature. Gate valves are used in systems where a straight-line flow of fluid or gas is required. Globe valves are used in systems where precise control of flow is necessary. Butterfly valves are used in systems where a quick shut-off is required. Valves are critical components in space systems and must be designed to withstand the harsh environment of space, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and vacuum conditions.
