Solid Rocket Fuel
Solid rocket fuel is a type of propellant used in rocket engines that is made up of a mixture of fuel and oxidizer, both of which are in a solid state. The fuel and oxidizer are combined into a solid mass, which is then packed into the rocket motor. When ignited, the fuel and oxidizer react to produce hot gases, which are expelled out of the nozzle at the back of the rocket, providing thrust. Solid rocket fuel is preferred for its simplicity, reliability, and ability to be stored for long periods of time without deteriorating. However, it cannot be turned off once ignited, making it less flexible than liquid rocket fuel.
