Plant Cells

Plant cells are the basic unit of life in plants. They are eukaryotic cells, which means they have a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. Plant cells have a cell wall made of cellulose, which provides structural support and protection. They also have chloroplasts, which are responsible for photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert sunlight into energy. Plant cells can differentiate into various types of cells, such as root cells, stem cells, and leaf cells, each with specific functions. Plant cells also have a large central vacuole, which stores water and other substances, and helps maintain turgor pressure, which is important for plant growth and stability.
