Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a colorless, non-flammable gas that is commonly used as an oxidizer in rocket engines due to its ability to increase the internal combustion temperature of the engine. It is also used as a propellant in aerosol cans and as a coolant for certain types of rocket engines. Nitrous oxide is a powerful greenhouse gas and its use in rocket engines contributes to the depletion of the ozone layer. However, it is still widely used due to its high performance and low cost compared to other oxidizers. Nitrous oxide is also used in space medicine as an anesthetic during extravehicular activities (EVAs) and as a breathing gas in space suits.
