Nickel-Cadmium Batteries

Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries are rechargeable batteries that use nickel oxide hydroxide and metallic cadmium as electrodes. They have a high energy density, can be recharged hundreds of times, and are commonly used in aerospace applications due to their reliability and durability in extreme environments. Ni-Cd batteries are also known for their ability to deliver high current, making them suitable for use in electric propulsion systems and emergency power systems. However, they have a lower specific energy compared to other types of batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries, and are also known to suffer from memory effect, which can reduce their overall capacity over time.
