Near Infrared


Near Infrared (NIR) is a region of the electromagnetic spectrum that lies between the visible and mid-infrared regions, typically ranging from 750 to 2500 nanometers. NIR radiation is used in various applications in space and astronautical engineering, such as remote sensing, spectroscopy, and imaging. NIR spectroscopy is used to identify and analyze the chemical composition of materials, including gases, liquids, and solids, by measuring the absorption, transmission, and reflection of NIR radiation. NIR imaging is used to capture images of celestial objects, such as stars, galaxies, and planets, as well as to monitor the Earth's surface and atmosphere. NIR remote sensing is used to gather information about the Earth's natural resources, such as vegetation, water, and minerals, as well as to monitor weather patterns and climate change.
