Gravity Field Models

Gravity Field Models (GFM) are mathematical representations of the Earth's gravitational field. They are created by analyzing data collected from satellite missions, such as the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and the Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE). GFMs are used to study the Earth's interior structure, geodynamics, and to improve navigation and positioning systems. They are also used to monitor changes in the Earth's mass distribution, such as ice sheet melting and ocean currents. GFMs are constantly being improved and updated as new data becomes available and as new techniques are developed.
