GPS Signals


GPS signals are electromagnetic waves transmitted by GPS satellites that carry information about the satellite's location and time. These signals are received by GPS receivers on Earth, which use the information to calculate the receiver's location and velocity. The GPS signal consists of two carrier frequencies, L1 and L2, which are modulated by navigation data. The L1 frequency is used for civilian applications, while the L2 frequency is reserved for military use. The GPS signal is subject to various types of interference, such as atmospheric effects, multipath, and intentional jamming. To mitigate these effects, GPS receivers use various techniques, such as signal filtering, error correction, and antenna design.
