Floating-gate Transistors
Floating-gate transistors are electronic devices that use a floating gate to store electrical charge. They are commonly used in non-volatile memory devices such as flash memory, EEPROM, and EPROM. The floating gate is electrically isolated from the rest of the transistor and can hold a charge for an extended period of time, even when the power is turned off. The charge on the floating gate can be used to control the conductivity of the transistor, allowing it to act as a switch or a memory cell. Floating-gate transistors are critical components in modern electronics, enabling the development of high-density, low-power memory devices that are used in a wide range of applications, from consumer electronics to spacecraft.
