Dobson Unit (DU)


Dobson Unit (DU) is a unit of measurement that represents the thickness of the ozone layer in a column of air. One Dobson Unit is defined as the number of molecules of ozone that would be required to create a layer of pure ozone 0.01 millimeters thick at a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius and a pressure of 1 atmosphere. The total amount of ozone in the atmosphere is typically measured in Dobson Units, and this measurement is used to monitor the health of the ozone layer and to track changes over time.
