Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps are mechanical devices that use centrifugal force to transfer fluids. They work by converting rotational kinetic energy into hydrodynamic energy, which is then used to move the fluid. The pump consists of an impeller, which rotates at high speed, and a casing, which directs the flow of fluid. As the impeller rotates, it creates a low-pressure area at the center, which draws fluid into the pump. The fluid is then forced outward by the centrifugal force generated by the impeller, and exits the pump through a discharge nozzle. Centrifugal pumps are commonly used in space and astronautical engineering applications, such as rocket propulsion systems, cooling systems for spacecraft, and fuel transfer systems.
