Carbon Capture Technologies
Carbon Capture Technologies refer to the methods and technologies used to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from various sources such as power plants, industrial processes, and transportation, and store them in a way that prevents their release into the atmosphere. These technologies include post-combustion capture, pre-combustion capture, and oxy-fuel combustion. Post-combustion capture involves capturing CO2 from the flue gas after the fuel has been burned. Pre-combustion capture involves converting the fuel into a gas before it is burned, and then capturing the CO2 from the gas. Oxy-fuel combustion involves burning the fuel in an atmosphere of pure oxygen, which produces a flue gas that is mostly CO2. The captured CO2 can then be transported and stored in geological formations such as depleted oil and gas reservoirs, saline formations, and deep coal seams.
